SpeakDataWith is my working journal for data and AI systems: architecture decisions, operations, and the tooling that carries a platform in day-to-day use.

It is written for experienced practitioners. Technical vocabulary stays technical vocabulary, and what is complex gets explained rather than flattened. If you already run data pipelines, you should not have to start with the basics.

The topics come out of my own work: data modeling, warehousing and operations on the one side, agentic systems and autonomous tooling on the other. The two belong together, because an agent is only as good as the data it works on.

My rule for every article: a statement is either sourced, or it is recognizable as an observation from my own work.

Data is only as valuable as the understanding it creates.

How I back what I write

External statements (documentation, standards, prices, public benchmarks) are linked directly in the text. Where a claim rests on my own reproducible work, it points to a public artifact: a repository, a pull request or a run log.

Not every artifact behind an article is public; some repositories are private. Where that is the case, the article says so. Only what is reachable without access gets a link. These projects are open to inspection:

About me

I'm Luis Arteaga, a Lead Consultant at INFOMOTION, based in the Hamburg area of Germany. I build data systems that hold up in operation, and I write about what carries them, and about what does not.

My career started in marketing management, where I saw how much data can do for a business. I wanted a deeper understanding, so I moved into the data world itself. For over five years I have worked in roles such as Data Scientist, Analytics Engineer and now Data Engineer, at companies including INFOMOTION and Lotto24 AG.

As a consultant I help clients build data systems that grow with their requirements (scalable), hold up under load (resilient), and where all the data works together cleanly (integrated).

Beyond client work, I build autonomous agentic systems and orchestrators with LangChain and LangGraph.

Beyond the data

When I'm not working in data, I read: science fiction, technical books, anything that catches my interest. I also stay active: running, circuit training and some yoga to keep things balanced.
